<p>The salt water is made to flow between a reflecting surface and a transparent top cover, so that it arrives at the de-salination plant after having absorbed heat from the sun; thus the plant's energy requirements are reduced. The reflecting surface would be of metal-coated heat-insulating material, and the transparent cover would be a film held at a distance above the reflecting surface by distance pieces, or floats, or by the pressure of the sun-heated air it enclosed.</p> |
