There is described a process for the preparation of novel salts of hexetidine with aromatic carboxylic acids of the formula II
in which n denotes 1 or 2 and if n = 1 the substituent X is -COOH, -OH, -NH2, -SO3H or -SO2NH2 with the proviso that X is present as -COOH or -OH in the 4-position, and if n = 2 X has the prior meaning with the proviso that different X radicals are present. The base is reacted with the said acid in a solvent and the salt is obtained by crystallising out. The salts prepared are distinguished by poor solublity in organic solvents and can therefore easily be separated off from accompanying by-products. Pure hexetidine can also be obtained from the resulting salts by reactions with an aqueous base. Since both the salts and the pure hexetidine have antimicrobial activity, they are used in particular as an antiseptic for the oral mucosal membrane.
|
