Sleeve tooth for mechanical digging tools and corresponding fastening sleeve, the sleeve tooth being provided with a tooth head and with a conical tooth shank which is held by locking means inside a fastening sleeve. In order to create such a sleeve tooth which need not be replaced after reaching the critical degree of wear but on the contrary can be turned through 180 DEG , i.e. can be inserted again into the fastening sleeve with an unused working face downwards, the tooth shank (6) has at its free end a fastening head (9) with conical neck surfaces (9a). A locking piece (11) can reach behind this fastening head (9). At its end remote from the tooth head (7), the fastening sleeve (2) carries on its inter surface an elastomeric ring (13) which is held in the groove (12) and is compressed by the inserted locking piece (11). <IMAGE>
