Phosphorus-contg. epoxy! resin prepd. from phospholane - and epoxy! resin, gives flame resistance to moulded goods and coatings

New epoxy resins have the formula (I): In (I), R' and R7 are CH3 or H; R8 is satd. unsubstd. 1-10C aliphatic gp. 4-10C aliphatic-cycloaliphatic gp. 3-8C cycloaliphatic gp. or 6-20C aromatic gp.; R3 is H or -O-P(=O)(R8)-CH2-CH(R7)-CO-O-; circled R is a polyvalent aromatic or (cyclo)aliphatic polyether gp.; B is H or a linking gp. similar to R8; n' = 0-5; n2 = 0.5-5; n3 and n4 = 0.5-2; n' + n2 + n3 + n4 =6; n3 + n4 = n2. The P content of (I) is 0.5-10% (1-5%). (I) is used in prodn. of moulded goods or coatings with flame-repellent properties. Laminates can also be obtd. (I) can be mixed homogeneously with other epoxy resins and with epoxy resin hardeners. (I) can be used where halogen-contg. prods. are not suitable.
