<p>The carbon black concentrate consists of the following, by weight: 10-50 % of carbon black, 5-30 % of plasticiser, 0-30 % of nitro-compatible alkyd resin, 30-80 % of nitrocellulose cotton and 0.5-2.5 % of a dispersant in the form of metal oleates or octoates. It is prepared by converting the isopropanol-moistened nitrocellulose, plasticiser and dispersant and, optionally, alkyd resin, with addition of a solvent, to a plastic mass, then kneading the carbon black into this, milling the resulting product to form hides, in order to achieve further carbon black dispersion and to evaporate the solvent, and then crushing these hides to give chips. The carbon black concentrate may be used as a pigmenting agent, especially for paints (surface coatings) and in printing inks.</p> |
