1511388 Bearings BORG-WARNER CORP 11 Aug 1975 [13 Nov 1974] 12796/76 Divided out of 1511387 Heading F2A In a roller bearing assembly comprising a bearing cartridge mounted in a housing, the cartridge comprises an inner race 28 having a pair of inner raceways 36, an outer race 30 having an outer arcuate surface 46 and a pair or outer raceways, and a locating pin 62 extending radially from said outer race to be received in a cavity 64 in said housing, the cavity being relatively long in the axial direction as compared to its width in a direction normal thereto, the locating pin co-operating with the cavity to limit the ability of the outer race to rotate with the inner race but to permit limited pivoting of the bearing cartridge with respect to the housing to accommodate shaft misalignment. The outer race may comprise two members 44 welded together, and may be provided with shoulders 51 which can contact portions 23 of the housing to act as a further check to excessive pivoting movement. The housing may be a pillow block or a flange block. |
