1511451 Ultrasonic echo-sounding F HOFFMANN-LA ROCHE & CO AG 17 Feb 1976 [18 April 1975] 06251/76 Heading G1G [Also in Division H4] In ultrasonic echo-sounding, echoes from reflectors outside the focal line are reduced by using a transducer array of annular segments having radiating and receiving surfaces inclined to the axis of the ring, transducers 1 and 3 being connected to a generator 8 and amplifier 9 for transmitting pulses of ultrasonic waves and echo receiving transducers 2 and 4 being connected to amplifier 10, rectifier 11 and CRO 12 or a recording or storage system. The transducers are Piezo-electric and are arranged in an annular housing 5 with epoxy resin/tungsten attenuation block 6 and an epoxy layer 7 affording protection and acoustic impedance match to water.
