1511132 Inhibiting vulcanization GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER CO 16 Feb 1977 [12 March 1976] 6471/77 Heading C3C The premature vulcanization of rubber is prevented by inclusion in the rubber of a compound of formula wherein Ar is an aryl radical derived from a C6 to C10-benzenoid nucleus which is unsubstituted or substituted or the nucleus with one or two chloro, nitro, alkyl or alkoxy substituents the alkyl or alkoxy groups containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms; R is selected from C1 to C20- alkyl groups, C5 to C20-cycloalkyl groups which may be unsubstituted or substituted with one or two C1 to C4-alkyl radicals, C6 to C10-aryl radicals, and C7 to C20 aralkyl radicals; and when n is 1, R<1> is selected from the same, radicals as specified for R and when n is 2, R is C2 to C10- alkylene or C5 to C20-cycloalkylelle. Examples are given of the vulcanization of natural rubber formulations containing one of many specified inhibitors, e.g. methyl - N - phenyl - 1 - (ethyldithio) - formimidate and 1,1<1>-ethylenedithiobis (methyl-N-phenyl formimidate). |
