1511070 Discontinuous pressure sensitive adhesive coatings NATIONAL STARCH & CHEMICAL CORP 16 Nov 1976 [8 Dec 1975] 47719/76 Heading B2E [Also in Division B5] A substrate, e.g. metal, fibreglass, polystyrene foam or asphalt impregnated waffle felt is coated with raised, spaced deposits of an aqueous pressure sensitive adhesive polymer latex by spraying, the polymer glass transition temperature being -10‹C to -80‹C and its particle size below 0.5 microns while the latex surface tension is at least 42 dynes/cm2, its viscosity 25-2,000 cps and its Hamilton Beach grit value 0.03 to 3.0. Suitable polymers are copolymers of acrylates which may contain butadiene. Many specific examples are given.
