<p>1450334 Germicidal composition DIVERSEY Ltd 14 Feb 1975 [28 Feb 1974] 9083/74 Heading A5E A germicidal composition comprises by weight a) 5-15% of a complex of iodine and a non-ionic surfactant of formula R(EO,PO) x (EO,PO) y where R is a C 8 -C 11 straight chain hydrocarbon radical, EO is oxyethyleno, PO is oxypropylene. the weight ratio EO/PO being from 0.1:1 to 1.3:1 and the number of oxyalkylene groups being not more than 15, b) 5-40% of an acid or a mixture of acids, c) 15-87% water, d) 3-30% of a non-ionic surfactant as specified in a) above and which may be the same as a) or different. The preferred ratio of iodine to surfactant in the iodophor (a) may be from 0.1:1 to 0.3:1. The surfactant may contain only EO groups in the x block and only PO groups in the y block. Phosphoric acid is the preferred acid (b), but other acids are specified, hydrochloric, acetic, hydroxyacetic, sulphuric and p-toluene sulphonic may be used. Bromide ions may also be present in the composition.</p> |
