The bushing is carried in a metal collar 21 to which it is cemented. Spring-loaded bolts 18 mounted in a moving carriage 17 engage a flange 20 of the collar to press the bushing into engagement with the plate 25. A spring seal 26 is provided between the bushing and the plate. The collar is centred on an aperture in the plate by spring lips 23. Further spring- loaded bolts 19 urge the silding plate 25 towards the fixed valve plate on the ladle. The plate 25 is made of a ceramic material and is mounted in a steel frame 24. The fixed plate is also made of ceramic material and mounted in a similar steel frame making the parts interchangeable. The bushing, of which several may be mounted in the sliding plate, may be made of fire brick or ceramic material.</p> |
