In an automobile having an independent motor driving each wheel, the effective unsprung mass is minimized, and impulse shock is reduced, by arranging each wheel at the end of an arm pivoted about a normally horizontal axisof gravity of the motor, having a center of percussion approximately at the wheel axis, and having a corresponding axis of suspension at the arm's pivot.
