CIRCUIT INTERRUPTER WITH LOAD SIDE SHORT CIRCUIT

The current limiting unit for protecting an electric load against overcurrents comprises currents limiting circuit breaker with a contact system including a moving contact arm and a magnetic trip. The latter has an open-ended slot that takes up part of the contact arm so that a magnetic flux is induced in the magnetic trip when preset excessive current flows in the contact arm, sufficient to effect a rapid contact breaking movement of the contact arm. A normally open short circuit path is provided in parallel with the load, this path being closed immediately after occurrence of an overcurrent of predetermined threshold value.
