摘要 <p>1490274 Inserting terminals in substrates; force fits AMP Inc 25 March 1975 [28 March 1974] 12295/75 Headings B3A and B3U Apparatus for simultaneously inserting a plurality of electrical terminals into respective holes in a substrate, the terminals initially being carried by a common carrier strip (12), Fig. 1 (not shown), comprises a base 19 having support means 20, 21, for the terminals and carrier strip which also aligns the terminals relative to each other, and the carrier strip; terminal securing means mounted on the base for movement relative thereto between a first and a second position; and locking means which locks the securing means to the terminals in its first position and releases the securing means for movement to its second position after part insertion of the terminals. A comb 10 of terminal posts 11 is placed, either manually or automatically, on the support means with the carrier strip (12) located in a groove 24 formed between push and control blades 20, 21. Projections 22 on the blade 20 align the posts for insertion into a printed circuit board. A handle member 26 is moved forwardly, Fig. 4, to the first position and a portion 29 of the member carries a blade assembly 25 along with it by means of a detent pin 37. As the pin draws level with a channel 40 in a nose member 32, it is driven into the channel 40 thereby locking the handle member 26 to the nose member and releasing it from a bearing portion 28 of the blade assembly 25. A spring 36 then moves the portion 28 to place a control bar 27 over the terminal posts 11 to support and align them as they enter their respective holes in a printed circuit board. When the bar 27 contacts the board, the blade assembly 25 moves rearwardly against the spring 36 until the detent pin 37 drops out of the channel 40, thereby unlocking the handle assembly 26 from the nose portion 32. A spring 35 moves the handle assembly rearwardly to the second position. Insertion of the posts continues until shoulders 14 on them engage the circuit board whereupon the apparatus is removed from the comb 10 and the strip (12) broken off. The comb is stamped, cut or machined from a single piece of conductive material, e.g. copper, gold, plated steel or the like.</p>
