Grinding arrangement for chamfering threads - using plastic grinding wheel which gives rounded edges to ground face

The grinding arrangement incorporates a grinding wheel (6) which is mounted on a shaft (5) driven by a motor (4). The wheel consists of superfine silicium grit embedded in a plastic material. A slide (8) can be moved to and fro in front of the grinding wheel. The workpiece (11) of which the edges are to be ground are mounted on the shaft (10) of a motor and gear drive (9). The motor and shaft are mounted at an angle on the reciprocating slide. As the grinding wheel is plastic, the threads of the workpiece penetrate partly into the wheel, because of which the edges of the faces ground will be rounded.
