A supporting plaster bandage, made of a strip of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) foam, has at one or both ends a terminal strip, made of a woven or knitted textile material.The strip of bandage material which consists of PVA foam can have a thickness of two or three times that of a comparable textile strip. One or both ends have terminal strips, made of a woven or knitted material such as cotton, wool or synthetic fibres. They are jointed by bonded or welded seams to the PVA foam.The arrangement greatly facilitates the wrapping of the moist and slippery PVA strip around any injured limb. It also allows the bandage to be fixed by applying claws to the strip.
