<p>The arm is used to handle manure and silage and is fitted to the three point suspension of a tractor, being operated through its power take-off. It comprises a double-acting hydraulic cylinder, fitting inside a tubular beam and operating a similarly positioned cam. The cam has a helical slot and drives an extension fitted with stops. This extension has side arms with levers, the motion closing them onto the silage. Teeth are provided in a head (13) which is operated by smaller hydraulic pistons (12). These close the jaws to grip the silage cutter blades (14) simultaneously severing any continuous strands.</p> |
