The instrument, can be used to detect and measure the components of a gaseous mixture. It uses electromagnetic radiation, such as UV visible or IR radiation. The radiation emanating from the gas mixture passes through a chamber which contains a pure sample of the gas sought. A magnetic field is achieved in the chamber, which will to a certain extent absorb radiation of wavelengths of the absorption lines of the gas being investigated. The circuit contains a natural or artificial light source, which projects the light on to a lens (3) to be concentrated on a cuvette (7), which contains the pure gas. There are also two parallel capacitor plates (6), one on each side of the cuvette. A voltage source (11) generates an alternating field between the plates.
|
