A number code for punched cards and automatic punching machines uses only five notes for numbers O to 9. An easily understandable code enables a considerable increase in storage capacity and requires no conversion. Alpha-numeric data may be accommodated with two further holes as control holes. The code may be applied to all types of data medium. Two edge grooves out of five are used per number. For ease of visual reading the numbers are printed in a triangle divided into rows contg. boxes. The grooves indicate the two rows contg. the box in which the number is printed.
