Vehicle fog lamp with axially orientated bulb - has bulb located at focus of reflector and has coaxial segmental screen over lower arc of bulb

The lamp has an axially orientated bulb (12) and a diffusing lens (11). The focus of the reflector (23) is approx. 0.5mm from the inner end (14) of the bulb (12). The bulb is screened over a lower minor arc by a coaxial arrangement, this construction achieves a sharp cut-off, permitting accurate aiming, long range and good illumination of the road close in front of the vehicle. Instead of the segmental screen, two parallel axial screening strips may divide the light emitted by the bulb into a major upper arc and a minor lower arc. Light from the lower part of the reflector is deflected downwards and to the side by an optical scattering arrangement in the lower half of the lens.
