<p>Slag is removed from synthesis gas, produced by chemical coal gasification, by cooling it spontaneously on leaving the reactor through spray nozzles to a temp. at which the airborne liquid slag droplets are converted to solid slag granules. A vertical section of the gas discharge pipe is equipped with cooling tubes which consist of a vertical part and a curved part and are jointed to a ring main. The coolant forms part of a steam generating system so that part of the heat content of the synthesis gas is recovered. Sepn. of coolant and slag granules is obviated.</p> |
