<p>Metal articles coated with polyacrylates, polyesters or polyepoxides (or paints contg. these polymers) are dyed by treating them with an organic or aq. -organic solvent contg. metal complex dyes (I). Pref. (I) are Co or Cr complexes and are used as solns. in glycol ethers. Used for Fe, Al, Ni or Cr objects, but also for tinting brass, bronze or Cu. This method is more convenient for small numbers of articles then application of a polymer which has been pre-coloured and during the process any flaws will be coated so that in the case of oxidisable metals protection is improved.</p> |
