The fastener may be used in the demountable fixing of a brush head onto a handle. A two pronged terminal is provided at the base of the handle, and various fastener mechanisms may be used to displace the prongs into the brush head holes. The prongs may terminate in short square returns. The returns either converge or diverge, and the prongs are displaced in the direction of the returns to engage brush head sockets. The fastener mechanism may utilise a rotating cam or a sliding cursor to effect the desired relative displacement of the prongs.
