The test equipment for determining urea and uric acid levels, esp. in saliva, comprises a test rod having reaction and indicator zones and a reaction vessel. For taking samples direct from the mouth or tongue of the patient, the test rod (8) has a reaction zone (3) and an indicator zone (2). The indicator section is protected with a plastic skin or sleeve which, after the reaction area has been wetted with saliva, is stripped off. The indicator zone is about 30 mm long. For larger quantities of saliva, the sample is held in a tube or other vessel and is drawn up into a syringe containing a rod carrying the reaction and indicator zones.
|
