摘要 <p>In the mfr. of hydraulic binders, melting is employed to combine raw materials, contg. lime, clays and silicates used in stoichiometric amts. The materials are fed separately or simultaneously, together with solid fuel, which pref. has a high ash content, to a burner in a cyclone slag tap melting furnace. The liq. slag is drawn out of the furnace and granulated by rapid cooling; and the waste heat is used in a conventional way for steam generation. Used for mfr. of binders such as Portland cement. The process permits the exploitation of the large amt. of ash obtd. from thermal power stations, with optimum use of heat, using cyclone furnaces of conventional type. The tangential feeding of air for combustion and solid fuel, e.g. coal dust, into the furnace has proved most advantageous. The raw materials contain SiO2, Al2O3, Fe2O3, CaO, MgO, SO3, and the ash which will arise from the fuel is analysed so its compsn. is considered when calculating the stoichiometric amts. of raw material required. The materials, fuel and air are burned in the furnace. The molten slag tapped from the furnace is quenched in a conventional manner using air or water to obtain a granulate ready for use.</p>
