1510336 Separators for lead acid batteries YUASA BATTERY CO Ltd 30 June 1975 [11 July 1974] 27547/75 Heading H1B A lead-acid storage battery comprises a container, at least one set of positive and negative battery plates, and a microporous separator comprising a microporous layer having submicron micropores of heat meltable synthetic resin film of less than 0À5 mm thickness integrated with a macroporous base material having pores which are several tens of microns in size and having a substantially higher temperative resistance than that of said synthetic resin, the microporous separator having a plurality of independent embossed areas 3<1> projecting outwardly towards the positive plate 4 and the pores of the embossed areas either being closed to form non-porous films or partly closed to form pores having smaller pore sizes than those pores in the non-embossed part. The separators may be embossed on both sides, and the embossed parts may be of dot, diamond, rhombic or elliptic shape. |
