(e.g. colour TV type) having a lead containing glass tube neck closed by a glass base plate 9 with contact pins 8 supporting a two or more beam generating system 7 comprises sealing plate 9 to the tube neck while supported and accurately positioned W.R.T. reference parts of the C.R.T. by supporting member 10 (Fig. 1), 30 (Fig. 3) having guide holes 32 and reference holes 33, the latter being substantially spaced from plate 9. This construction of the supporting member inhibits lead oxide deposition in reference holes 33 and allows a smaller play between the pins and the reference holes. Fig. 1 includes three-gun system 7 with contact pins 8 of specified dimensions, supporting member 10 the rotational position of which is coupled to the position of abutment members 5, and burners 11 heating the 36% lead containing glass to 800-900‹ C. Supporting member 30 may be of Cr-Ni-steel, and hole dimensions are specified. The member reduces the possibility of the glas cracking during sealing because of the uniform distribution of the contact pins within guide holes 32. |
