A part of the crankcase gases of an IC engine which are recirculated to the fuel inlet system is passed through a heat exchanger with an oxidation catalyst where it is heated by hot exhaust gases. The catalyst effects an oxidation of the combustible components of the crankcase gases and the resulting gases, containing CO2 and water vapour, are introduced in the fuel inlet system. This prevents the deposits formed in the fuel suction, combustion chamber and spark plugs when conventional crankcase gas ventilation is applied. The recirculation of exhaust gases reduces the emission of N oxides. The system reduces atmos. pollution considerably.
|
