1510347 Interrupts HONEYWELL INFORMATION SYSTEMS Inc 24 April 1975 [24 April 1974] 16970/75 Heading G4A The main store of a host data processing system stores a target system program, interrupt status indicators for a plurality of peripheral control units and at least one interrupt count word indicating the number of peripheral control units connected to a respective common bus which have interrupt conditions. The interrupt count words indicate whether there are any interrupts outstanding and are updated, together with the interrupt status indicators, under control of micro-program routines which handle the interrupts. Target program processing is resumed when the interrupt count is returned to zero. The main store contains segments A-D, the interrupt count words being in segment A and the interrupt status indicators, each of which (Fig. 5c, not shown) includes peripheral control unit interrupt and allow bits and device interrupt and allow bits, being in segment B (also Fig. 1e, not shown). A process control block (Fig. 1c, not shown) is also included in the main memory. The data processing system has word and byte arithmetic and logic units (Figs. 2b, 2c, not shown).
