Detection of strip shape deviation - in ferro-magnetic strip material

The strip passes over a series of fixed spaced supports which cause it to be bent magnetically. Greater ben ling is caused where the strip is elongated and this is measured by detectors and displayed visually. The supports consists of a row of electromagnets spaced across the width of the strip and supplied with direct current. A number of detectors alternate with them which receive alternating current consisting of H-spaced ferrite cores with windings which receive alternating current in opposite directions on eigher side of the fillet and with a medium receiving detection coil on the fillet. The results are passed through a treatment apparatus to the display screen. The results may be used to correct the operation of the mill.
