1434158 Extracting copper NILUX HOLDINGS SA 26 Sept 1974 [28 Sept 1973] 41827/74 Heading C7D Cu is extracted from Cu-containing sulphide concentrate e.g. chalcopyrite by roasting it to reduce the S content below 1%, then adding at least 10% silica-containing substance e.g. sand before subjecting the roasted material to segregation by adding a halide salt and a reductant, e.g. common salt and coal or coke, to the material at elevated temperature e.g. at least 700‹C. Preferably the Cu content of the material subjected to segregation is less than 30%. Segregation may be conducted by vibrating the heated material in closed silica reactors. The Cu may be removed by wet-screening and mini-flotation. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1324939
|
