A needle 102, cooperating with the point dial 29 of a linking machine, is carried at one end of a needle bar 103, the axis of the needle being offset at an adjustable distance from that of the bar. The latter is slidably and rotatably mounted in a fixed bearing 104 and carries at its other end a crank pin 106 having a ball head disposed in a groove 7 formed in a block 8 at one end of a lever 9 pivoted at its other end on a crank pin carried by a crank 13 on a rotary driven shaft 14. Lever 9 is pivoted on a pin 10 carried by a lever block 11 rigid with bar 103 and an upper block 11 slidable on a fixed rod 12. Bar 103 both reciprocates and oscillates. Needle 102 cooperates with a threadlaying finger 28 carried by an arm 27 adjustable fixed to one end of a rod 23, the other end of which is connected by a ball joint 24 to a fixed arm 25. Rod 23 passes through a sleeve 22 rigid with the strip 21 of an eccentric carried at one end of a shaft which is journalled in a fixed bearing 20 and carries at its other end a driven gear 19. The arrangement is thereby such that finger 28 traces an elliptical path. |
