<p>The steel bearing seat (4) is for use on permanent way railway track, supports both rail ends (1) at a longitudinal joint, and reduces differential deflection of the rail ends. The seat (4) transmits load to a sleeper (6) with a rubber pad (5) interposing the seat (4) and the sleeper (6). The rubber pad (5) may be 12 mm thick and be built into the sleeper (6). A 2 mm thick plastic layer (3) may be provided between the sole (2) of the rail and the seat (4). The length of the seat (4) in equal to the width of the sleeper (6) and approximates to 350 mm. The bearing may be deployed with various types of sleeper and in association with the various rail-fixings.</p> |
