Surface elastic wave RF oscillator - operates without use of frequency multiplication and is used for communications systems

Surface elastic wave oscillator for use as a primary RF source is for use in transmission systems generally including transmission via satellites. The oscillator can work at 250 MHz without multiplication and can provide harmonics at 500 MHz and 750 MHz etc. with minimal parasitic frequencies. The oscillator (8) output is fed into a feedback loop consisting of a frequency dividing circuit (9) followed by a phase comparator (10) which is also fed from a reference source (11) working at the primary oscillator frequency. The loop is completed by the comparator error signal being fed back to the primary oscillator.
