1509588 Coiling helices YOSHIDA KOGYO KK 27 Aug 1975 [5 Sept 1974] 35328/75 Heading B5A [Also in Division B3] Apparatus for shaping a helix from filamentary material W and transporting the helix comprises a body 11, a screw 12 rotatably mounted in a first cavity 14 in the body, an endlessly toothed circulating device extending within a second cavity 17 communicating with the first cavity, and a mandrel 23 extending between the screw and circulating device in conformity with the periphery of the latter. As shown, the helix is an element of a sliding clasp fastener, and is wound by a rotary head 25. The circulating device is a gear wheel 18, toothed at the same pitch as the screw and driven by shaft 19, and the mandrel is extended at 23<SP>1</SP> round the wheel, leading the helix to a die-wheel where the helix is set by heat. In another embodiment, the circulating device is an endless toothed belt trained around a driven sprocket, Fig. 2 (not shown). |
