The cross flow cooling tower has air fed through horizontally operating axial fans to the heat and material transfer surfaces. The fluid trickles from the top to the bottom over the transfer surfaces or in the inside of the heat transfer bodies, which form closed inner chambers. The outer face of this body can be supplied through trickling water. The side walls near the horizontal blowers are so formed by the heat transfer bodies themselves that, together with the blower housing (3) they are arranged in a triangular or trapezium fashion when viewed from above.
