<p>The facial harness is used for dental alignment of teeth and has a head band (11, 12) for retaining the correcting wires. These wires (2) are fixed to the patient's teeth (4) and lead outwards to a main wire (1) curving round each side of the face. Each end of this main wire enters a tensioning device each side. This tensioner (7) can apply pressure by means of calibrated springs (6) or elastic cords and a scale is provided for controlling the tension. The tensioners are, in turn, fixed (10) to a strap (8) on the head band, this strap having holes (9) along its length for adjusting the harness.</p> |
