For the automation of an embroidery machine, A punched card provides the data for the movment of the embroidery grid. There is an arrangement of electric and/or electronic switch and control units to reverse or partially reverse the directional commands from the punched card. The system allows mirror image patterns to be reproduced. The reader for the punched card, to register the selected movement direction, has one arm of a two-armed lever which pivots in actin, and control units such as control sinkers are provided for control. The other free arm of the lever is mounted with a switch according to the angle of movement. The control sinkers are operated by electro-magnets, such as a rotary magnet, regulated by the switching unit. The switches are in the form of proximity switches which make contact on proximity of the free arm of the lever and when it dwells in this position. The magnets are held by springs in the inactive mode. The switching unit has a counter system for the pattern rows which is preset for special functions in automatic embroidery such as stoppages, mirror image patterns and the like. The counter is controlled by a special control sinker to stop the embroidery machine in conjunction with a proximity switch. The special function control sinker has an extension ranging across its direction of movement with a switch unit in its path to bring the embroidery machine to a stop.
|
