The telescopic aiming sights for a rifle have an objective focussing system ensuring repeatability of focussing operation. The focussing system components have minimum wear. The telescopic sight (2) has an adjustable objective lens system. The objective has an arresting system preventing rotation of the lens system while axial adjustment is possible. The cylinder has a rotating ring arrangement which is locked against axial movements. The adjusting system has two contacting rings with helical end faces. Stops are provided for adjustment movements in two opposite directions. The adjusting system is held firmly and without play by a spring.
