The liquid crystal display cell contains two electrode substrates with a liquid crystal arranged between them, and contains two film polarisers (5) which are arranged on the substrates. At least one of the film polarisers (5) has a plurality of pleochroic sections (3A, 3B) which are arranged in a specific position and have visual properties which are different from one another. Such a cell can change its appearance and colour in a simple manner. <IMAGE>
