Automatic machine for encasing viscous food - in longitudinally folded web of elastic film surrounded by helically wound layer

The food is fed by a positive displacement pump from a hopper to a nozzle which delivers it into a casing. A sleeve is mounted about the nozzle and a flat elastic film web is fed onto the sleeve. A further web is formed into a helically wound layer of the casing which is superimposed onto the first layer. The wound layer is applied by a mechanism which includes a rotating mandrel to which is secured at an acute angle a spool carrying the supply of elastic flat film web. The casing stuffed with the food product is pulled from the nozzle. Used to produce sausage-like articles wrapped in a casing. The food may include sausage meats, processed cheeses, minced meat, flour, curd cream or cereals. The machine has an increased output compared with previously known similar machines and also broadens the range of films usable for the casing without the use of welding or glue.
