A container which is divided into a number of individual cells is filled with chemicals. When the container is placed in a fluid, the chemicals are required to dissolve at a controlled rate. By removing the seal on an outside cell of the container, the process of dissolution is started. When the first cell is empty, the neighbouring cell is exposed to the surrounding fluid. This causes the seal of the cell to break, thus its content is able to dissolve and therefore mix with the surrounding fluid. Pref. both the container and the seal are made of plastics. Used e.g. controlled release of chemicals into the air to kill insects, or of chemicals into swimming bath water to kill germs etc.
|
