A press regulator for fluids or gases has a membrane piston controlling a poppet valve against a valve spring according to a control press. It is designed for reduced proportional operating region, including when a relatively strong spring is used. This is achieved by increasing the membrane piston effective surface as the stroke and the deflection of the valve spring increase. The membrane piston consists of a rigid section (32) and an attached flexible outer part (34) also fixed to the inside of a membrane housing (30). The rigid section has a conical projection round its circumference (44) in the direction of spring deflection. As the stroke increases the flexible part rolls back and the effective piston surface increases.
|
