Flashover-proof high tension capacitor - with plain plastic foil and offset metal strips on both sides of other foil

A flashover-proof high-tension capacitor is wound from one foil with a metallisation on both sides, alternating with another foil with no metallisation. The metallisation on the two sides of the first foil consists of several parallel strips on each side, with those on one side offset relative to those on the other side and partly overlapping them. The metal strips are removed for a few man at the ends of the foil. The initial and final turns consists of a few layers of non-metallised foil. This eliminates edge flashovers because of the absence dangerous clearance across air. The mfr. technology is simplified and the capacitance is hedl to a finer tolerance because it is not affected by the foil run in the winding operation.
