A propeller or fan is mounted in a circular duct (2) which tapers to a smaller diameter (2b) downstream from the fan. This reduction in duct diameter causes an increase in the linear velocity of the air flowing through the duct. This increase in velocity reduces the pressure inside the duct below that of the ambient air. Additional air is sucked into the zone (5), which lies ahead of the duct (2), through the annular ducts (6, 7, 8). The energy of the total mass of air flowing in the duct downstream of the annular ducts (6, 7, 8) is increased. The outward flow of air can be used to generate a surplus of power. |
