Sizing system ror shoes - builds up reference numbers from min. and max. heel circumferences of population group

The design concerns a method of measuring the human foot for selecting the right size of footwear. A representative size for the foot is the so called short heel circumference (X) which is taken along the imaginary line dividing the foot from the leg. This measurement can be supported by a further unit such as foot width. The system of sizes expressed in reference numbers is based on measurements carried out on a group of population. The range is subdivided into several groups, each with a reference number. The show shell is selected to have an inner measurement equivalent to the measurement taken over the short heel circumference, which is actually the max. value of the measurement for a population group. Each shoe within the size grading has a reference data which corresponds to the measurement of the group.
