PROCESS FOR PRODUCING PURE N-IZOPROPYL-ALPHA -CHLOROACETANILIDE
摘要
Pure N-isopropyl-alpha-chloroacetanilide, a known herbicide, is produced by reacting N-isopropyl-aniline (II) with a chloroacetylating agent (e.g., chloroacetyl chloride) in the presence of N, N-diisopropylaniline (III). The presence of (III) (readily obtainable as a byprodt. of the prodn. of (II)) causes the reaction to proceed much more smoothly and with much better yields.
