A device for adjusting the inclination of car headlamps according to the load on the car, comprises a mechanism for tilting the headlamps and controlled by mercury switches (6) carried by a rotatable disc (1) whose angular position depends on the relative disposition of the sprung and unsprung parts of the car. The disc axle (2) is fixed to the rear axle, and the disc (1) has a slot (3) receiving a slider (4) connected by springs (5) to the bodywork. Alternatively the disc (1) carries a pinion engaged by a rack on the sprung part of the car. The mercury (7) can bridge pairs of electrodes (8a, 8b, 9a, 9b, 10a, 10b). The headlamps are tilted by supplying electrical current to an electric motor, electromagnet or a thermal expansion device.
|
