<p>A caliper gauge is used to check the dimensions of a mechanical part. It has friction or spring restrained slides on a bar to facilitate adjustment. The gauge has a slotted bar (1) with a straight ridge (2). It has slides (5', 6') fitted into the slots (3, 4). The slides (5', 6') are restrained by plates (10) and screws (9). The slides (5', 6') are clamped between the bar (1) and the plates (10) and any tightening of the screws (9) does not affect the position of the slides (5', 6'). The screws (9) fit through clearance holes in the slides (5', 6') and into threaded holes in the plates (10).</p> |
