A boring head enables an auxiliary hole to be bored alongside a hole made from a drilling platform using a suitable drilling tool, to reduce gas under pressure. The head carries a spinale for connection to the drive tool, and has a block with its cylindrical end projecting, for securing a cutting tool using a lapped hole for a securing screw.This end passes through a clearance hole in an end plate. The lower part rests on a cross slide so that it can move sideways in a slot on its top surface. This in turn can move sideways in a direction at right angles to this slot in a second slot across another plate secured by pins inside the head. This arrangement permits vibration to be absorbed.
